"When they got into the boat, the wind ceased"
The contrary winds blew and blew. Peter had walked out on the water to Jesus, been rescued by Him and now both of them walked on the water back to the boat. The windstorm did not abate until they got into the boat with the disciples. We are in the same boat together in agreement, in common union, and so contrary winds have no power against us together.
External circumstances do not determine whether or not we are to leave the boat or return to it. What is going on around us does not determine how we commune with Christ or fellowship together. Our spiritual scheduling is at the direction of Christ' Holy Spirit, Who is our Comforter.
Our lives are in the hands of the Almighty, not the whim of the moment. The needs of people, no matter how distressing, do not dictate your actions. Godly compassion tells you when and where you are needed. If what you desire to do contradicts what you know God is doing, then it is anarchy and rebellion in agreement with the storm around you.
We serve our Heavenly Father in the Kingdom of God. Jesus controls the agenda for our lives. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. Things are not initiated by sin and calamity, nor does chaos and lawlessness resolve any trial.
So we who live by the miracle power of God, His disciples, will walk to Him on top of the circumstance. We will walk with Him on top of the circumstance. We will join together to walk in triumph over the circumstance. Jesus is in charge. Jesus is Lord. We abide in covenant together in Him.
"And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. (27) But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." (28) And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." (29) So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. (30) But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" (31) And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" (32) And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. (33) Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God." -Matthew 14:26-33 NKJV
