"They follow Me and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand"
Our fellowship together is a spiritual matter. We do not all go to the same places to do the same things. We do not all eat the same foods or know all the same people. However, the thing we do have in common is the Shepherd of our souls, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord our Shepherd gives us life, health, and protection. Though everyone's natural life ends at some point, the life within us will never be lost. Our eternity is secure in Christ.
As disciples follow Christ, no one can snatch us away from Him. Our communion keeps us together. Jesus also said that no one can snatch us away from our Heavenly Father either. Our fellowship in Christ is active, when we follow Him, and in that place we are eternally secure. The communion of the saints is the place where we are made aware of all that God is.
Curiously, the next thing Jesus said was that He and The Father are One. As God protects us, we discover the reality of Deity. By following Jesus, sheep following the Great Shepherd, God becomes real to us in the following. More to the point, in the keeping power of God, we are audience to the enemy of our souls as he confronts Almighty God and we are the audience.
We are keep safe in the palm of His hand, the place where the nails were driven for us, we see the love of God. In a sense, we have been attached forever to the Lord through those nails on His Cross. No devil or man can detach us from the Lord. Your Shepherd, your Savior, is Lord over all!
John 10:25-30 (NKJV) Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. (26) But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. (27) My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (28) And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (29) My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. (30) I and My Father are one."
